Due to the absolute stupidity that is my Internet situation, I cannot play this game right now. This log will be on hiatus until further notice.

Current party: Shadowheart, Asterion, Karlach

Those outside the party: La'azel, Wyll, Halsin

Class/Race: Bard Seldarine Drow

  • This game takes time to adjust. There's so many things you can do at any giving time, it's almost overwhelming. However, the game makes this work by allowing the player to experiment with things at their own pace. I've never felt in over my head when making decisions.

  • People praise the game about it's character customization. However, I don't think it's as groundbreaking as people make it seem. Like yeah, there's diversity when it comes to the gender expression of your protagonist, but I feel like they didn't take full advantage of that as they should've. Especially since the devs advertised it so much, it just feels off. I may do another post about how I feel about that because I have a lot of thoughts.

  • The more I play, the more surprised I am regarding how in dynamic the dialogue is. Characters adapt what they say to almost every little bit of information you learn or to who you have in your party, no matter how nonlinear it is. The amount of detail is impressive!

  • I like the characters that you can recruit (at least so far). However, I do find them to a bit flat at times, especially if you don't have a higher approval rating with them. For example, I have a pretty good approval rating with Shadowheart, so I've been able to learn a lot about her life and what made her choose to worship the goddess she's devoted to. However, I have a lower approval rating with Wyll, and all he talks about is wanting to kill the warrior Karlach. I understand that characters will reveal secrets about themselves to you when they trust you more. However, they should have some amount of depth beyond 1 or 2 things that make them stand out, even if your approval rating with them is low.

  • Ok so this top point? Forget most of what I've said. I understand now that this game chooses to go "slowburn" with giving information sometimes, it's actually kinda cool.

  • I'm currently into Act 2, and I'm kinda getting sick of the overall plot. It just kinda feels like a "fetch quest" (kinda?) that you know won't lead anywhere. It's like, why do I keep having to ask people for help regarding the tadpoles when I, the player, know they won't work? I don't know maybe it's not that big of a deal and the plot will blossom more later on, but it's just bugging me.
